State of the LAN - Halloween Edition

Happy Halloween, gamers! Or perhaps a bit after Halloween...oops. This state of the LAN post may be coming to you a few days late, but that's only because it's chock full of treats and goodies we couldn't get it out to you in time! This will be the first of several monthly blog posts leading up to the LAN where we detail what's happening so we can keep you, the fans, in the loop about everything that's coming up.

Getting Our S.W.A.G.-er On

You know we've promised loads of swag and prizes, and the only way that's ever going to happen is if we have some -AMAZING- sponsors. RGB LAN is proud to announce our first sponsors for the event:

We hope you're excited to find out more about the sponsors, but you'll have to wait just a little bit longer! Keep an eye out on our social media during the month of November as we'll be sharing more about them and everything they're bringing to the LAN. In the meantime, make sure to check out the links to their websites above. There are plenty more sponsors to come as well, so keep an eye on our social media or wait until our next State of the LAN post to find out who else kicks ass and what other kinds of prizes you can win!

Put LAG in the BAG

What's the point of a LAN if you're experiencing any latency at all? We feel your pain, and we're proud to announce full gigabit ethernet will be available at the LAN! You won't have to worry about lag while you frag your way to fame (or at least a sweet-ass prize). Our network engineers have been hard at work acquiring high-end hardware for the event to give you the best possible experience at the LAN. Let's give them a huge hand!

Social Hangouts EVERYWHERE!

Despite what some media critics might think, gaming has always been social and we absolutely recognize this. That's why we've created a Discord chat server where you can go, hang out, look for group, or just hype about how awesome of a time you're going to have come March. It's also probably one of the best places to get your questions answered, make suggestions, or to just kick-it. (people still say that right?)On top of the Discord Server, we also have a Facebook Event up. It's just an extra place where you can get automated reminders about the event. We won't post in there too often (we don't like to flood your news feeds), but we'll definitely be letting everyone know when tickets go on sale through that event page. Make sure you join it so you don't forget!

Tell Us Who You Love

RGB LAN is ALL about the charities, and we wouldn't be doing this without them. That being said, we're still in the process of selecting the three organizations we're going to partner with this year. That's why we are turning to you! Let us know what charities you want to help. We're looking for local charities, preferably with a gaming or technology link. Do you work for one, or know someone who does? If so, let us know and we'll reach out! This is your opportunity to help shape one of the foundational principles of this LAN. We're all ears! Head over to our Facebook Page, Discord Server, Twitter, or Instagram to let us know!

Ready, Set, GAME!

Speaking of suggestions, we want to know what you want to play. Because we're going to have so many prizes, we want to know what tournaments you want to see at the LAN. Team Fortress 2? Starcraft? Counter-Strike: GO?  Pokemon GO? (Only partially joking about that last one, but you get the idea.) We're down to host whatever you want from the old, to the new, to the weird. If you think it'll be fun, we're down for it! Just let us know!

And YOU Get a Prize! And YOU Get a Prize!

Last but not least, we want to extend a HUGE congrats to Dave K for being the winner of our first Gleam campaign. Keep your eye out as every weekend from now on we'll be posting a brand new Gleam campaign with plenty of opportunities for you to win prizes even before the LAN starts! And that's it for this State of the LAN. We're incredibly excited for what's to come and I hope all of you are as well. Again, make sure to follow us on our Facebook Page, Discord Server, Twitter, or Instagram and let us know what you want to see. None of this could be done without you. Thank you!
